    1. A nice, wide-ranging collection of stories. The author gives a lot of background to each story. Of particular note, each story has extensive an bibliography listed under each *individual* story. Oh how I wish more collections of folklore would be this meticulous!

This is a wonderful collection of eight short stories that come from different places around the world and all of them involve some kind of 'little folk,' whether they be leprechauns, menehune, elves, or sprites.The stories are short, but we only read a story or two each night. The illustrations are gorgeous, each a full-page, very detailed and colorful.
