    1. El reino del dragón de oro = Kingdom of the Golden Dragon (Eagle and Jaguar #2), Isabel AllendeKingdom of the Golden Dragon (El Reino del Dragón de Oro) is a 2004 book by Chilean writer Isabel Allende. It is the sequel to City of the Beasts and the prequel to Forest of the Pygmies. The plot is set in the Forbidden Kingdom, a remote Himalayan country. A Buddhist lama named Tensing takes his disciple, Prince Dil Bahadur, to the Valley of the Yeti to find some healing plants that do not grow anyw [...]

    2. The Kingdom of the Golden Dragon by bestselling author Isabel Allende is, quite simply put, a terribly bad book. The plot is utterly predictable and cliched; the characters uninteresting and uni-dimensional; and the writing bored me to tears (it may be better in the original Spanish, but I very much doubt it). The book is marketed as "young adult", but I doubt whether any discerning youngster would be enthused by it.The story is simple. Big Bad Americans want to steal the legendary Golden Dragon [...]

    5. The characters are what makes this book very good in my opinion, especially the women. There is Kate, the weathered international geographic writer with a great love for her grandson and her special vodka tea. There is Nadia from the ian jungle who has an eagle as spiritual animal, which is also why she is sometimes called ‘Eagle’ in the book, but has actually a great fear of heights. This however does not stop her from being extraordinary brave. Finally, there is Pema, who lives in the capi [...]

    6. Isabel Allende is one of my favorite authors and I wasn't sure how I would react to a book that seemed to be written in response and on the coat-tails of the multi-series sci-fi/fantasy books such as the Harry Potter series. This book does not disappoint, but I would not place it anywhere near the authors more mature and sophisticated books such as "Daughter of Fortune" and "The House of the Spirits." My critisism comes from direct comparison to books that author has already written. If I had rea [...]

    7. I actually read this book in Spanish and I just couldn't put it down. At first I didn't know it was a second book from a series and had no clue it was her youth books, and yet I found it refreshing. The story of Nadia and Alexander and how their adventures take place was really nice, with insight into lives we couldn't imagine with very little delicacy but a huge impact. Definitely, a good read.

    8. Excelente libro.

    9. I haven't really finished this book, but I have only 20 pages to go and will probably finish them tonight as I have the test on it tommorow.Let's see this book. Meh. If you want to read this book, know two things; first off, if you have finished reading the 50 page first chapter, you have accomplished a feat worthy of applaud. The first chapter = bad. But the rest of the book is fairly tolerable. The second thing is that Isabel Allende is no genius. She took a cliché topic, wasted it on "The Ci [...]

    11. A good story, once it gets goingI have to admit that I really struggled with this book, and nearly gave up, several times, during the first hundred pages or so. I am glad that I persisted, because it is quite a good story. What really irritated me, early on, were the stupidly ridiculous situations which were being put before me. For example, a teenage girl arrives at JFK with her pet monkey in a cardboard box; it escapes and causes havoc, but she is allowed to continue through to the transit lou [...]

    12. Okay, 3.5. It had sooooooo much potential and a lot of things were done right, but It lacked excitement. Still good tho. I'll read the last one in the series later.

    14. Nì. Io e i sudamericani abbiamo qualche problema di comunicazione. Non ci siamo ancora ben capiti e compresi.

    15. It is the second in Isabel Allende’s trilogy of children books (or young adult books if you wish to use that derogatory, fascist term). I have read them all since, I picked up the first part after heaving read the excellent House of Spirit. I wanted to read more of her work and this trilogy was her second most popular work. I finished the series mainly because I feel the need to finish every series that I start, in this case the quality of the series was far from my main motivation. This remin [...]

    16. Kembali jalan-jalan bersama neneknya Alexander, (jangan panggil aku nenek) Kate.

    20. I appreciate what these books are doing to help with my Spanish ability. The main characters are fun and interesting, though the sequel doesn't give much opportunity for character development, but mostly rehashes the development they went through in the first book. That's often hard to avoid with sequels. I enjoyed reading the book even while I was conscious of its shortcomings. Most of the secondary characters in the book are flat and don't meet the potential Allende gave them. This is especial [...]

    21. Kingdom of the Golden Dragon” has the same issue as the other two novels from the “Eagle and Jaguar” triology, in that it is terrible in every way. Plot, character, writing, development,… you name it and it is a catastrophe. This book has the specific honour of being easily the worst one of the 3 and thus a complete and utter train wreck not that there was anything left to be saved in the other two. The whole thing is supposed to take place in a made up country, one that I found resemble [...]

    23. Well. This was a pleasant little children's book. On the copy I read there was a quote from Literary Review 'The kind of accomplishment to show dressers that there's more to life than Harry Potter'. Really?! God. Harry Potter is far from the best thing ever but what a stupid statement. This book was average at best. Perhaps there was something lost in translation. It didn't quite deliver. It left me full but unsatisfied. Maybe it's because it's a children's book, they often leave me feeling like [...]
