    One thought on “Famished”

    1. An expertly written labyrinth of twisted, unpredictable awesomeness! I pride myself on figuring out plot twistsbut Famished got me. TWICE. This novel is cunning, delightfully disturbing (<

    2. DNF@8%. For the sake of bookclub, I told myself that I had to read to at least 10% before abandoning. I couldn't do it. This book was trying too hard-just too overboard with everything. I found the writing crass and the story was forceful and abrasive by trying to shock from the very beginning. I could tell immediately that this book wasn't for me. I like my mysteries to be sophisticated, not in my face.

    3. Famished is a great read. It's smart and suspenseful and completely twisted. It reminds me of the first time I read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, full of multi-dimensional characters who aren't always on the right side of good, but you love them anywayor love to hate them. I can't wait for the next books in the Ash Park series.

    4. Psychologically ThrillingThis book will keep you on your toes with plot twists! A bit of warning, do not read before bedtimetely worms its way into your subconscious. I highly recommend this book!

    5. One dimensional characters prevent the plot of this book from moving smoothly. The incest rape scenes are needlessly graphic. There is no insight into any of the lives of the characters, and the descriptive writing is almost non existent. More character development is needed, how does the main character work at a domestic violence shelter and live in the same building as the owner of the shelter and still live with Jake? Why did her mother abandon her? Marrying a dentist is the only answer this [...]

    6. Pages and pages of excessive sexual violence towards women (and children). Bizarre similes. Gobs of adjectives. Weirdly-placed, uncomfortable humour. This book is over-the-top violent. Sexual abuse, mutilation, child abuse, incest, rape, more rape. "Anal rape" because it's not enough to just refer to it as rape. The storyline and character development felt forced. The metaphors and similes made me cringe. Things like:"Thomas grinned like a fifteen-year-old girl with a cock in her ass." "I tugged [...]

    7. An expertly written labyrinth of twisted, unpredictable awesomeness! I pride myself on figuring out plot twistsbut Famished got me. TWICE. This novel is cunning, delightfully disturbing (<

    8. This book will keep you guessing up until the end! This book was amazing as far as suspense goes. It has many graphic murders in a Hannibal Lectoresque type way. There are many interesting facets to the book in the way of relationships and past history of the characters. The characters are all very interesting and everyone seems to have many skeletons in their closets. No wonder Hannah has such a hard time sleeping. You think you have it all figured out? Guess again. You don't. It throws you for [...]

    9. The characters in O'Flynn's debut novel are well-crafted, magnetic, and engaging, each with their own thoroughly developed and often deeply flawed personalities. This is not a book you read in dribs and drabs night after night for weeks. This is a book you will lose sleep over. Famished is fast-paced, scary, and delightfully sick, with an awesome surprise twist at the end.

    10. I definitely enjoy the thrill and suspense that the book brought me. BUT, this book includes incest, violence, stalking scenes. Everyone is hiding secrets. Everyone have dark past. Who to believe and who to fear of? Is he/Her the real murderer? Or is it someone close??

    11. I loved reading this book. I finished it in a day. If you love creepy, grotesque suspense, you'll enjoy this twisted tale. The author takes you deep into the minds of more than one fucked up character, and writes each with a unique voice.

    12. WHAT A DISCOVERY! I love whodunnits packed with suspense. Famished doesn't disappoint. O'Flynn doesn't put a foot wrong in this electric, complex tale of murder and desire. I can't wait for the sequel!

    13. I love books with endings that hit like a one-two punch and this book hit hard! (In the best possible way.) I can't wait to read her next work.

    14. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately, since I won't continue to read the series, I went with 3. As far as crime novels go this book did a really good job at keeping me guessing right to the end. I am however confused at some aspects still. These may be answered in the following books but I will just focus on this book alone. I don't know why one man was falsely blamed. Did the real killer put him up to it? I'm very confused about the whole thing. Did the one man rape them and the other [...]

    15. Ok readThe heroine was hard to believe totally unrational and whiny and the book was too long but the story was good. Close to a page turner but not quite. I did enjoy it though.

    16. Meh. It's a serial killer novel. It's dark and disturbing, as it should be, but the whole things seems rather contrived. Like someone read an FBI profile of a serial killer and built a character around him, and gave him a woman to focus on. Honestly, I'm sorry to say, this was forgettable.

    17. Sorry, can’t understand the higher reviews. Thought this book was completely ridiculous. Couldn’t like any of the characters and the violence/sex were gratuitous to the extreme! The good mystery thrillers leave something to the imagination.

    18. This is easily one of the best stories I've ever read. I love mystery and suspense stories, and Famished had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Meghan O'Flynn is an amazing writer who truly know hows to engage the the human spirit in her writing.

    19. Holy crap that ending! This story reels you in and keeps you going until you're finished, looking around wondering what just happened. I loved how you could feel the fear and hope. That ending was fantastic. I really didn't see that coming. Wonderfully written.

    20. Pretty goodIt was a little slow getting into but once it got going it was good. There was to much talking about nothing

    21. Psychological ThrillerTwists and turns throughout. Just when you think that you've figured it out thee comes another twist. A fast-paced read.

    22. If you enjoy creepy, twisted, disturbing and graphic tales that include incest, stalking and violence, you should like this book. The mystery/suspense aspect of the story keeps you turning the pages.

    23. Serial killer in ash park. Several possibilities as far as the culprit but too many back and forth. Not what I expected. Would not recommend.

    24. Love the Ash Park series. To be honest, I had to re-read parts of the first book, as I got confused / lost ~ but that was also partially due to reading until you crash out on your pillow. Once I got into the groove of Meghan's writing style the rest of the books whizzed by. While reading, I often wondered for the safety of her own spawn & spouse something just doesn't seem quite right in that brain to come up with some of the sh*t that comes out in the series. It's disturbingly AWESOME!! (wh [...]

    25. This book was intense from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down and parts of it made me want to sleep with my lights on at night. Great first book in what looks to be a suspenseful series by a promising new author!

    26. I received this book for free from the author. I am voluntarily giving it a review. Oh, the twists and turns will keep you guessing! You'll think that you know who did it, only to find out you're wrong! Meghan O'Flynn wrote a book that I could not put down. The pictures she writes are amazing. They say a picture is worth 1,000 wordswell let's twist that around and say one of Meghan O'Flynn's stories is worth a million pictures! This book just drew me in and wrung me out. You will not see the ans [...]

    27. From the first word to the last word; O'Flynn hooks you and pulls you in. Perfectly twisted and captivating, Famished is an addicting read. With characters that are both relate-able and unbelievable, I simply couldn't get enough.Unpredictably gripping, following Hannah Montgomery through this edge-of-your-seat-psychological thriller is a roller-coaster experience. If you're into thrilling, surprising, dark and vibrant tales - this is one for the record books. Start it tonight, you'll have it fin [...]

    28. I bought this book mainly because I love the author's psychology blog and I wanted to see how she used that background to create a work of fiction. Well. I can't adequately express how brilliantly this book is written. Sharp plot twists, realistic characters, dark-but-compelling backstory--this book has it all. I love thrillers/mysteries and read a LOT of them, so it's difficult to surprise me. But this book had me guessing until the end, and when everything clicked into place I was left with a [...]

    29. Like James Patterson's Alex Cross, only scarier. Lots of twists and turns. I can't say too much because I don't want to give the ending away, but I did not see that coming. O'Flynn uses her knowledge of psychology to build multifaceted characters and a villain who will have you looking over your shoulder.
