    1. I really felt in the need for something light to read, and this novel by Isabelle Broom fit the bill. Taggie and Lucy are women for whom Lake Como in Italy holds a special place in their heart, they spent time there as children. Taggie has returned to live there, a friend of her grandmother's, Elsie lives in Bellagio with her three little dogs, all named after her husbands! Taggie has found employment at the Casa Alto hotel, organising and leading tourist trips around the area. Lucy is a nurse, [...]

    2. The beautiful, evocative settings in this novel are the highlight for me. The author obviously knows the area around Lake Como in Italy very well and brings it all to light in the readers’ imagination with her superb descriptions as we explore the area with the two female leading characters, Taggie and Lucy, both of whom have returned to the area which they’d loved as children though with very different reasons.Wanting to escape from heartbreak and tragedy, Taggie has gone to visit her famil [...]

    3. The place we met is the 3rd Isabelle Broom book I have read, and it's safe to say I'm a fan. Her books are always set in beautiful landscapes and tell an intertwined story. The place we met is set in Italy and tells the story of two women. Taggie has moved to Lake Como and works in a hotel. She organises and runs events for the hotel guests. She isn't looking for Prince Charming but keeps playing the role of the damsel. Marco is a tall handsome Italian man. He plays Taggie's rescuer whether she l [...]

    4. Lake Como at around Christmas and the New Year is the setting for this book. The story alternates between two rather different women, and my feelings towards both of them changed regularly as the story progressed. I did though find the book felt a bit slow to start, and it took for the two stories to merge to really hold my attention at which point I really did want to know what was going to happen next. Taggie is working as a tour guide in her beloved Lake Como having escaped misery back in Eng [...]

    5. Taggie, Pete and Lucy can’t imagine how a stay at Lake Como can affect their lives.Oh my heavens I enjoyed The Place We Met. I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Even when the emotions the characters feel are negative ones I experienced sheer joy in reading The Place We Met. It had everything I adore in fiction, from a setting so vivid it feels as if I’m actually there, through wonderfully depicted characters that are living, breathing humans, to a narrative that draws in the reader so tho [...]

    6. My favourite Isabelle Broom book yet! Her characters are so well drawn they feel familiar and human and the twist half-way is just brilliant - as is the setting. Take me to Como!

    7. In Isabelle Broom's newest release "The Place We Met" we are introduced to two main characters. Taggie works as a tour guide in Lake Como after escaping London and a heart - break. Lucy loved Lake Como as a child and decides to take her new boyfriend Pete there for Christmas and New Year. The two, at first sight, different women that don't know each other do share something in common and they don't know that their lives are going to change soon. I, of course, loved the setting of Lake Como at ar [...]

    8. *Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*Isabelle Broom has fast become one of my fave authors. I adore her books and was obviously very excited for this book. The fact that it is set at the Lake of Como just added to it.The story follows two women: Lucy and Taggie. Taggie moved to Como to heal her broken heart. Lucy decides to take her boyfriend Pete to her beloved Como. Their lives collide and they actually have something in common.I loved following both storylines and [...]

    9. The Place we met by Isabelle Broom a fabulous five-star read. This is my first read by this author and I really hope to read more; the writing was great and I know this is a read I will be giving to many of my relatives who like a good read. It’s a beautiful and captivating read that many will enjoy as there is something for everyone in this read. It won’t disappoint you, I adored the backdrop of Lake Como and both of the leading ladies have their own unique story to tell. I won’t reveal m [...]

    10. What a delightful and romantic story set in Italy by Isabelle Broom. This particular novel surrounds two main characters - Taggie and Lucy. Taggie is over in Italy working for a hotel and Lucy is on holiday with her new boyfriend, Pete. When I read the synopsis of this book, I so wanted to read it! It sounded so intriguing and even from the synopsis I thought it would be a difficult one to put down - and I wasn't wrong. The location of Lake Como is important for both ladies, it's somewhere that m [...]

    11. This review originally appeared on BrizzleLass Books. This time we are whisked away to Lake Como in Italy, as always Isabelle Broom spends as much time making sure that we are acquainted with our surroundings the sights, smells, tastes of the area as we are with the characters ensuring that when we close the final page we feel like we have been to the location, that reading the book was a fully immersive experience. In The Place We Met Taggie takes centre stage, she’s been working in Lake Como f [...]

    12. Although a relatively new author, Isabelle Broom can place her feet firmly under the table and be assured that she's found the winning formula. Her books are magical, the reader is transported to her wonderfully described locations, accompanied by her vivid and colourful characters, and taken on a journey that is just quite perfect. The Place We Met is based in Lake Como, Italy, around Christmas and New Year and is the perfect read for this time of year. Banish those dark dreary evenings and damp [...]

    13. Isabel Broom’s novels are like a bug in a book. The wonderfully descriptive prose transports you to a beautiful location - this time Lake Como - and takes you on a heartwarming journey with the characters. In The Place We Met, we meet Taggie and Lucy. Taggie is working at the Casa Alta hotel as a tour guide. She’s rushed off her feet but finds this is the distraction she needs from the life she left behind in England. Meanwhile Lucy has just arrived in Lake Como with Pete, her perfect new boy [...]

    14. Both Taggie and Lucy used to visit Lake Como in Italy when they were children and now they are back, but for different reasons. After five years together, Taggie’s boyfriend has announced that he doesn’t love her anymore, so a heart-broken Taggie leaves behind London and her PR job to move to the place she has been the happiest. In Como, she finds a new job, new friends, and a possible new love in the shape of charming Marco. Meanwhile, Lucy has organised her first holiday with her new boyfr [...]

    15. Isabelle's books always have beautiful settings and this book is no expectation. Set in both London and lake como. This book will have you wishing for a holiday in the sun for yourself. Isabelle's books never fail to make me laugh, cry, smile and weave their tale of love, life, loss and heartbreak right into my heart. I could not recommend Isabelle's books highly enough. An author that is high up my list of favourite authors. If you haven't read a book by her yet. I highly recommend. Simply wond [...]

    16. Isabelle Broom has an amazing talent for 'setting the scene' of her novels. In this one the reader is transported to beautiful Lake Como. I thought the characters were very well drawn and I liked the way that the story unfolded and revealed the connections between them. A lovely, light, romantic read but with a tinge of sadness too!

    17. As soon as I saw that this book was set in Italy, I knew I had to read it. Through books I have fallen in love with Italy; the stunning Lake Como is now one of it’s places I must see, thanks to Broom’s wonderful writing and descriptions. I must admit this is only the second of this author’s books I’ve read (along with A Year and a Day) I have the two summery ones sat at home, so I promise to get round to reading them when the weather improves. The Place We Met weaves together two women’ [...]

    18. Emotional and atmospheric.Starting at a slow burn this dual narrative quickly turns into a gripping story that is impossible to put down with its clever twists and turns as we enter the world of the two protagonists Taggie and Lucy. In alternative chapters told from first person view points the separate but inextricably linked lives of the two women unravel in the beautifully described Lake Como.We see the two grapple with the emotional damage they have suffered in the past as they try to come t [...]

    19. Agatha (Taggie) Torres had been heartbroken and decides to spent some time with her friend Elsie in Lake Como, they had met many years before when Taggie and her parents were there on holiday. While in Bellagio Elsie helps Taggie get a job in Casa Alta Hotel where she works as a tour guide she is working hard in hope of showing her boss Sal she’s capable of being an events planner.Having a few hours before her shift begins she goes to her thinking place where everything comes together for her [...]

    20. I’m so pleased that I was sent an ARC of this book by Netgalley in return for an honest review. On reading it I also breathed a massive sigh of relief. Isabelle Broom’s novel, “A Year and a Day” made me a huge fan, I thought for life. But I was so disappointed in her next one “Then, Now and Always”, with, to me, it’s daft story line and immature heroine. I was almost afraid to try this one. I needn’t have worried. This talented author is right back on track again I loved everythi [...]

    21. Lucy has suffered her fair share of bad men but now she is with Pete, her perfect man. Finally, Lucy has a man that is worth going to her favourite place with, Lake Como. Lucy is determined to have a great time but that is only going to happen if she can ignore mysterious phone calls and glamorous ex-girlfriends. Taggie is rushed off her feet but she loves it as distraction is just what she needs to forget why she ran away from England. One thing Taggie does not have is time to hook up with Marc [...]

    22. SPOILER ALERTThis is a story with two paralell plots.Taggie is working at Casa Alta in Como as a tour guide with aspirations to be promoted to events manager. She has come out of a relationship but with whom not apparent until near the end. Marco takes a fancy to her and she plans to plough money from her flat sale, into his new business.Lucy is a nurse working in a busy A & E department in London. New boyfriend Pete is bringing out her usual insecurities, as in all relationships. She hopes [...]

    23. what a fantatsic read, this is my second book by this author and i have been left feeling so happy. she writes with the readers following her and feels like you are there in the spotlight and thats what makes her brilliant. The setting is out of this world in Lake Como, Italy for the whole of the festival time of year this christmas and new year. It took me a little longer than normal to get 'into' the book but once i was there, it was flowing quickly so stick with it because the stories are mer [...]

    24. Normally when a book grabs me, its the, or the characters themselves.  In this particular novel, it wasn't initially either of these.  It was the setting.  The way in which Bloom describes Lake Como, Italy, made me fall in love with a place I have never been.  I have always wanted to visit Italy, it's something that is most definitely on my bucket list, and I know that when (when not if) I go, I'll be taking this story with me.Now, I can't say the plot & its ending surprised me. On the c [...]

    25. The Place We Met by Isabelle Broom is a wonderful contemporary novel about love, life and loss. It is a compulsive read. With comprehensive descriptions, the reader 'experiences' the heat and delights of Italy's Lake Como at Christmas and New Year.Life is a series of meetings and partings. Some partings are harder than others but we cannot wallow in our hurtful past. "There can be no going back, so I have no choice but to move forwards." Neither can we live in our childhood memories. No matter h [...]

    26. I chose to read this book based on the location in which it was set. Based on this criterion, it did not disappoint. At times, especially in the first half of the book, I found it to be a bit slow. However, the descriptions of the Lake Como area kept me reading. Now that I have finished the story, I can appreciate the slow way in which the characters were developed. There is a level of predictability to the story, especially during the second half of the novel. Although there are a few unexpected [...]

    27. The Place We Met is set both in London and Lake Como, with our main protagonists Agatha and Lucy, finding centre stage within the beautiful landscapes of Como. Broom's work transports you to the Italian delights, the reader feels like they are walking alongside the characters. A tale woven with love, loss and heartbreak it was one I couldn't put down. Broom highlights that we are all the makers of our own destiny as long as we stay true to ourselves. I thoroughly enjoyed The Place We Met a heart [...]

    28. A beautifully written book that takes you from the bustle of London to the shores of Lake Como. Taggie Torres is planning a new year's eve party at the hotel in which she works as a tour guide. For her, Como is a place of escape, and a place of happy childhood memories. For Lucy it is a chance to spend time with her boyfriend in a bid to make him happy. But behind the masks are secrets that cannot be kept hidden. This is a love story on many levels. As per Isabelle Broom's other books, she takes [...]
