    1. An unusual war memoir, with great descriptions of the air war over Europe that reminded me of Catch-22. Also an account of the author's relationship with his father, who would have preferred his son to die in the war in order to be able to mourn his untimely death.

    2. This is Moritz Thomsen's autobiography. His two major themes are his antagonistic relationship with his rich, mean spirited father, and Thomsen's experiences in World War II. His father was a charismatic, yet often brutal man who cultivated inadequacy in his son. Thomsen's role in the war seemed to underscore this feeling of helplessness or uselessness. "My Two Wars" is an interesting saga of a complex, introspective man who constantly battles self-loathing.

    3. Thomsen's last book (he wrote four) unfortunately. This one is about his struggles with his father and with his role in WW II. He writes so well and so honestly.
