    1. 2.5 starsThis was a book I became aware of while browsing Kindle’s lending library – upon reading the summary, the story sounded interesting so I decided to check it out. Overall, the story itself was not bad – in fact, there was actually a lot of potential for this to have turned into something great. Unfortunately, due to poor execution, a story that would have otherwise been emotionally moving and heart-wrenching turned out bland and lacking in emotional depth (for me at least). To me, t [...]

    2. Heavy-handed, with serious character and pacing issues. Even though I liked these women are redeemed through friendship and not romance, I found the book really clunky. The story moves from issue to issue (too many issues! too many hardships!) without any fluidity between them. I felt no emotional resonance with the characters because the plot was presented in an almost journalistic style, gussied up with flowery language. It's a shame, because the story was promising.

    3. I received this autographed book from a Giveway back in January and I finally got around to reading it, and I finished it in just 2 days! WOW, such a good book, I am looking forward to reading the 2nd novel, An Invincible Summer. This is a great story about love and friendship, and how 2 single women who meet each other become fast friends, although their lives are so different.

    4. True Redemption – A review of the novel ‘Last Things’“There's no need to talk about it, because the truth of what one says lies in what one does.” - Bernhard SchlinkAuthor Betta Ferrendelli’s novel ‘Last Things’ is a sensitive and poetic take on friendships and life connections. There isn’t a “Hero” in the book; it tells the story of two women from different walks of life who meet each other in a most unexpected way and form a life altering bond of friendship. Bridgette is [...]

    5. Three stars - enjoyed the book and really liked the main characters Alex and Bridgette and I felt I got to know them very well throughout the story. However abortion, suicide, disability, domestic violence , marriage breakdown, death and institutionalisation amount to far too many emotionally charged themes for one book. Overall I felt the book tried to deal with too much and while well written I found it hard going at times. Ultimately a good vs bad type of story which is always nice

    6. Love and friendshipThis is one of the best book I've read,Alex and Bridgette, Eden, Eda Mae,Blanche where just some loveable characters e saddest part when Alexis died and when Eden got sent to that special need school so soon after her mom's death made me drain tears for that child and wanna slap that Carl

    7. I was enthralled with this book from start to finish. The characters walked off the page and into my life; I laughed with them, cried with them and felt their pains. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time and I am a voracious reader. I tried to explain how it made me feel without giving away any of the plot.

    8. I obtained this free e-book from and I am voluntarily writing a review. This book started out so good and I got hooked right away and then it was like the author lost her inspiration and the plot just wandered aimlessly without an end destination. I DNF I could only read 50% and did not want to waste any more of my time.

    9. Great bookSuch a great read. I found it to be very honest and so realistic. The characters were mostly very lovable and it was good to feel the change of heart that the more annoying character had.

    10. Wonderful story! This book contains a wonderful story! At times sad, at times happy, it is thought provoking. The characters are well developed, and you get really attached to them. I highly recommend it!

    11. Can you move on? Bridgette has it all, she has a loving husband to be, is pregnant and loves her job as a reporter. But everything is about to come crashing down. Her baby will probably be down syndrome and her boyfriend wants her to get rid of it and she gives in to his demand. And a death makes her realize that she doesn't know what she really wants anymore. So she packs up some of her stuff and leaves to stay by her grandmother for awhile. But she doesn't stay there too long as she needs to m [...]

    12. Spoiler AlertFirst of all, the book emphasizes the closeness of the friendship Bridgette and Alexis shared. I was bothered by the secrets that they kept from each other. Especially when Cal slapped Alex. Best friends would never keep something like that from each other. The other thing that I felt was off was the fact that Alex, knowing she was dying, she didnt make arrangements for Edan. That would be the first thing a dying Mother would think of. Especially knowing Cal's history of wanting Eda [...]

    13. A beautiful love storyThis is a beautiful and well written love storyt romantic love, but love of a stranger, a friend, a child, a mother, a father, a grandparent and a community. It is a story of forgiveness both for ourselves and others. It is gentle and kind and strong and fierce rolled together as life itself.

    14. A Truly Loving Story This book was a bittersweet read for me. I lost my own sister to cancer 3 years ago. She too has a child with special needs. This story sheds light on the happiness and innocence a child can bring no matter how old they become.

    15. This book was not at all what I expected. At first I thought it was a bit predictable, however once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down. In fact, I stayed up half of the night because I HAD to know what happened. I smiled, laughed, and cried. Amazing story.

    16. Great read Enjoyed getting to know these strong womenwho find themselves in the midst of changing lives and loss. Great characters.

    17. Wow!!A fantastic story of love and friendship!! It was hard to put this book down would love to read a sequel.
