    1. As a collection of three short stories, Gryphon House was a fast, entertaining read. The middle story "The Washer Woman" was, by far my favorite. The titular tale "Gryphon House" was very brief, set a wonderfully foreboding atmosphere from the start, but fell a little flat at the end. If I were rating them individually, this one gets 3.5"The Washer Woman" gets 4.5 stars. It was a great blend of a kidnapping and detective story with a liberal splash of paranormal. Really great! The final tale "Tim [...]

    2. The book “Gryphon House” is a collection of three short stories.I originally wanted to read all of them in one night, but they are so different from each other, it is worth spreading the stories out over a few days, to let them all settle in.“Gryphon House” is the first story in the book and is the one with the most descriptive scenes from the three. The story itself is indeed short, the entire story takes place in a few minutes. But those few minutes give the reader a backstory that get [...]

    3. Short stories are a favorite of mine and these three did not disappoint. Each is an eerie page turner with a feeling of misgiving throughout. There were no gory shock factors to jerk me out of the stories, which I really appreciated. The characters, likeable but disquieting, are developed well in the short space. I did wonder about the old man in the last story and was hoping for a few more pages after its end. In all three, there is suspense throughout, leaving you to ponder the hidden meaning [...]

    4. Gryphon House is composed of three short stories that take place on The Cursed IslandGryphon House has a dark secret that Amelia is itching to investigate but first she must remember her place, as they bury one of their own. A short suspenseful read with a few twists and an unforeseen ending.Washer Woman was an intriguing read and filled with history and folklore. Ghosts, wraiths and banshees for starters. This story is the longest of the three and packs a punch. I'm looking forward to Part 2 co [...]

    5. Very mysterious. Washer Woman is extremely suspenseful with a pow ending!Gryphon House. Subtle dark fantasy builds up to a surprise ending. I only wish Gryphon House was longer, love the descriptions of the room and the island.Time Cheat is more Science Fiction but suspenseful as well, the characters in Washer Woman and Gryphon House are much more interesting.

    6. The author called these collection of stories, a suspense collection, and they were. So much so that every one of them read as an unfinished story. I like the author’s sense of description which set the scene very beautifully for each story. The scenes were more interesting than the stories, especially when the stories did not tell much. Amelia lands in this Island which everyone knew was cursed. She asked many questions, most unanswered. Did she discover anything chilling? A spot of blood on [...]

    7. I don’t normally read short stories, but the blurb piqued my interest. It was a very quick, enjoyable read. Each story has its own style and is well-paced. “Gryphon House” tells the story of a young English woman arriving at an isolated manor in the States in 1842. “The Washer Woman” follows a woman as she waits to learn the fate of her missing husband. The final story, “Time Cheat”, is about a terminally-ill elderly man who is given the new chance at life. Out of the three, I enjo [...]

    8. Three stories make up this book and each in their own way invoked in me feelings of eeriness and an ongoing sense of impending doom. This was a short read, but it was one that got my heart pumping from every page. The words are incredibly descriptive and successfully kept my attention on having to read the next page, and the next and the next after that. I am not a short story lover, and I certainly think that each of these stories in their own right would be exceptional full length novels, but [...]
