    1. This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceIn No Other Highlander we continue our story of the McKenna Family. Sir Malcolm McKenna is the oldest of the siblings, and is a widowed. Adapting to being two parents for his little girl who causes more than enough mischief, but a girl he can never say "no" to. When his family hears word, that a fellow highland laird, wants his head for ruining his daughter, its decided to meet up with other clans to resolve this issue and the meet up will [...]

    2. Reviewed for herding cats & burning soup.: amzn/2nqGNISIt's been a while since I read Basso and goodness I missed her writing! Rich and compelling. There's an almost magical quality to Basso's writing that pulls you in and makes you feel like you're right there with the characters. So. No Other Highlander. Basically Malcolm has been accused by another clan of sullying one of their lasses and being her baby daddy. And he's allum, no. Which leads to a huge gathering of clans to make sure justi [...]

    3. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.Malcolm has been accused of seducing another Lairds daughter, leaving her pregnant. The Laird is insisting on a marriage or there will be war. The fact is, Malcolm was quite "into his cups" when this supposedly happened and doesn't remember anyone really standing out to him at that feast. His father, the Laird McKenna has asked Laird Armstrong, a neighbor to host both sides so the issue can be dealt with.Joan Armstrong has return [...]

    4. Love and treachery!Lady Joan Armstrong Fraser and Sir Malcolm McKenna's story is one of building trust. 1334. Joan has fled her abusive marriage to Laird Archibald Fraser. With her small son she'd returned to her home at Armstrong Castle. She'd married Archibald 'with blind naïveté, unaware of his true character.'Joan's place in her father's home is tenuous and she knows that should her father marry the Lady Agnes that place will be even more so.Meanwhile Malcolm has been accused of fathering [...]

    5. * I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher*I loved this book! I am totally in love with Malcolm McKenna!!!Malcolm, the heir to the McKenna clan and widower, has been accused of taking advantage of the daughter of another clan, ruining her and leaving her with child. As much as Malcolm cannot believe this, he can't be 100% certain he didn't sleep with the woman. He knows he would have never made promises or taken an unwilling woman, but he honest [...]

    6. Great characters in a believable plot took me away to the Scottish Highlands of the early 1300’s. Malcolm McKenna was a wonderful book boyfriend – not perfect but oh so wonderful. Joan Armstrong was a woman of depth that needed a protector and found that and more in Malcolm. They had history that could have kept them apart – it didn’t. They had history that could have kept them from loving – but it didn’t. They faced trials that could have kept them apart – but they overcame them. [...]

    7. No Other Highlander (The McKennas) by Adrienne Basso is an intriguing Medieval Scottish Romance set in 1334 Scottish Highlands. WOW! Fast paced, adventure filled, heart -pounding and very captivating tale of heartbreak, healing, forgiveness, learning to trust and finding HEA, peace and happiness. Such a powerful and compelling story! Lady Joan Armstrong Fraser, was an abused wife with a small son Callum, escapes her abusive husband. While, she used to be a pampered and indulged daughter of a lai [...]

    8. I loved, loved, loved “No Other Highlander” by Adrienne Basso! The heroine, Joan, is an interesting one. She isn’t well-liked by her people and she readily admits to her faults. She is beautiful and grew up vain about her appearance and until her abusive first husband put her aside, was not always a pleasant person to be around.Malcolm is accused of seducing and impregnating another clan’s young daughter and has agreed to meet with the clan on neutral ground to settle the matter. The mee [...]

    10. Very few men want a woman who is strong-willed, sharp-tongued, and speaks what is on her mind. I would hazard a guess that even today, a man would rather have a sweet, docile woman to do his bidding, not creating discord. Some would, however, take the challenge. Sir Malcolm, it seems, took the challenge and was rewarded greatly with a deeply felt love. The process of making that happen is what the story unfolds. A story of second chances; it is also a story of knowing what you want and finding t [...]

    11. Malcolm, the heir to the McKenna clan and widower is accused of seducing and impregnating another clan’s young daughter and has agreed to meet with the clan on neutral ground to settle the matter. He can't be 100% certain he didn't sleep with the woman until he meets her in person. Malcolm knows he needs to new wife and a mother for his daughter, but he will not be forced into with a young woman he did not seduce. Lady Joan Armstrong Fraser was once the indulged and pampered daughter of the Ar [...]

    12. This was a most excellent book by one of my favorite authors. She writes highland romance like nobody's business. There was a lot to admire in reading this. The characters seemed real with thoughts and feelings of their own. It had me at first page and never let go.Lady Joan Armstrong Fraser was a pampered woman who was abused by her husband. She has escaped with her son to her father's house but can find no hope there. She was only a pawn in her family and is resented by leaving her husband. Sh [...]

    13. You know an author has talent when they can take elements you usually prefer to avoid in your romantic read and somehow make it work. Ms. Basso did just that, my fellow Scottish romance book-loving friends, in No Other Highlander. Though not a deal breaker, I’m usually not a big fan of past marriage baggage, children from said union, and “Surprise! You’re a daddy!” scenarios. With Joan having escaped the abusive clutches of her now former husband, Malcolm a widow, and both of them having [...]

    14. This was another entertaining by book by Adrienne Basso. I won this in a GiveawayWoohoooooooooooooooooo! I enjoyed this first book in the series (where Malcolm made an appearance, and was looking forward to his story). Joan also appeared in the last book, and she was NOT likeable. I was eager to see how Ms. Basso managed to make her bearable, never mind likeable. But she did it quite well. Joan was very much abused in her first marriage, and it took a lot to make her start trusting again. But w [...]

    15. The reader is swept back to the Highlands with Malcolm and his little lass and the circumstances in which he is married to Joan. Thoroughly enjoyed the children and mischief along with the description of highland life in the 1300s. Definitely a page turner you will want to settle in and enjoy.Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

    16. No other HighlanderI thought that Adrienne Basso had put some very strong women characters in this book and what I liked most about this story was how Joan was able to learn to love again and how Malcolm was able to teach her that not every ma man was bad.

    17. I received this book for free through First Reads. I enjoyed it, it was a typical highlander romance. No surprises and nothing really stood out, but it was nice and easy to read while waiting for my flight at the airport.

    18. Great readI couldn't put it down until I finished this book. Romance mixed with humor. The characters come to life for you. It gets my five star rating. 😁

    20. GoodEnjoyed this book. Sometimes it dragged but it still had a good story. I prefer more action than what delivered.

    21. Good story filled with romance and a little mystery. Looking forward to reading more of her books.

    23. Malcolm McKenna is my new favorite highlander! It was easy to fall for Malcolm right away in this beautiful romance. The love he shows for his daughter is heart warming and a glimpse at what he has to offer for his future wife. Though initially appearing selfish and haughty, I immediately liked Lady Joan Armstrong. She clearly puts up a very thick wall to keep anyone from getting close to her. And who can blame her considering all that she has suffered at the hands of her ex-husband? However, sh [...]

    24. 'No Other Highlander' by Adrienne Basso is book Two in "The McKennas" series. This is the story of Malcolm and Joan. I have read book One "The Highlander Who Loved Me" but I do feel this is a standalone book.Joan has returned home with her son after being married to a abusive husband but she finds not sympathy or love with her father. Joan was a spoiled pampered young lady and most everyone thinks that is how she still is which Joan keeps up that image to protect herself. Malcolm is a widower wi [...]

    25. Great Highland Romance, I really liked it. Malcom is the widowed eldest son and must find a new wife to produce an heir. When Joan who he knew as a pampered princess as a child protects him he sees her in a whole new light. The story is fast paced with lots of suspense and drama, I was hooked from beginning to end.

    26. Move over Jamie and Claire comes Malcolm and Joan! Joan has gotten out of an abusive marriage and she has a beautiful son, Callum, that is her life. She is determined that she will never marry again but her life is becoming hard since her father is about to remarry someone that she cannot live with! Malcolm McKenna is everything that you could image from a handsome, Highlander warrior! His wife died and he is left with a darling daughter that everyone thinks he overindulges. The result is one of [...]

    27. A definite GOODREAD! Perhaps an understatement in writing. I sincerely believe that this was a great read! The vivid story and the plot and the characters are just wow! I was totally captivated and held within as the plot unfolded. I had so many emotions while reading, feeling for the hero and the heroine as well as frustration and anger at some of the characters plots! I was involved in the story and could not help smiling as things and wrongs were righted. This author is truly amazing in the w [...]
