    1. Bob Smith is a tremendously funny comedian—in fact, he was the first openly gay comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and have his own episode of HBO Comedy Half-Hour. He's also a writer, of both novels and essays. (I really enjoyed Remembrance of Things I Forgot, a twist on a time-travel novel, which I read a number of years ago.)About 10 years ago, Bob was diagnosed with ALS. While he can no longer speak, or walk, he is determined not to wallow in his disease or allow it to hamper his enjoy [...]

    2. Bob Smith has spent his life making people laugh. He's been a standup comic, writer, and author of novels. Bob's 2011 book, Remembrance of Things I Forgot was a mega favorite read, something I keep remembering as the years go on, wanting to re-read. His latest, Treehab is a collection of stories about Bob's life. Bob has been living with ALS for the past 10 years, he's been an out gay man his entire life, he has two children, a loving partner, and many great friends. This book is a celebration o [...]

    3. Another great book by Bob Smith! Essays centered around his relationship with nature, his struggle with ALS and being an out LGBT comic.

    4. When gay stand-up comedian and novelist Bob Smith got his 2007 ALS diagnosis (or, as he calls it "my you're-gonna-die-agnosis"), a friend remembers him saying, "Lou Gehrig's Disease? I don't even like baseball!"Smith's smart, sassy and endearing essay collection, TREEHAB, explores a lot of ground--including his love of nature, his travel adventures, his decision to become a father (as a sperm donor to two lesbian friends), his pioneering career (he was the first out gay comedian booked on The To [...]

    5. In an enjoyable series of essays, comic and novelist Bob Smith shares stories of his many trips to Alaska, where he was inspired to write his wonderful novel Selfish and Perverse, his love of nature, his friends and family, and his decade-long struggle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig's Disease. His historic career as the first openly gay comic on The Tonight Show, the beginnings of the popular comedy trio Funny Gay Males, and a few romantic affairs - some also in Alaska- s [...]

    6. I loved this book so much. Bob Smith is not only an amazing writer, he is an amazing comic and man. Because he has ALS he wrote this book with 1 finger on an Ipad. If you think this book is depressing you would be wrong. This book is joyful, funny and touching. I have read everything he has written and I have never been disappointed and neither will you.
