    1. Ugh!Annoying but compulsiveSpoilers:Lissa is the eldest child of the wealthy Alcester family. As she grows up she is increasingly attracted to Ivan the illegitimate stable boy and when she was 16 years old she lets him kiss her but is frightened and some of the other servants have to pull Ivan off her. Later that night she strikes Ivan with her riding crop in frustration and permanently scars his face. This happens in the backdrop of a family crisis involving her parents. It turns out that her mo [...]

    2. Ivan Tramore has a chip on his shoulder and now that he's the newly christened Marquis of Powerscourt he intends to go back to his country home and make those who made his lives hell regret their very existence. Included in this group is the beautiful Elizabeth Alcester, a formerly entitled woman who has fallen on hard times. Barely making ends meet, Lissa is determined to marry so she can fully support her younger sister and brother. When news of the return of her childhood crush reaches her ea [...]

    3. This was a very light and whimsical read for me. For romance itself, with specific boundaries set to make its clear distinction from a bodice-ripper, it was damn good read, all in all. When Angels Fall was a painless, cherubic romance, sporting a full complement of caramel sentiment and endless infatuation by the One That Got Away. There was a great deal of past involvement & years for their affection to grow and ultimately, their love was believable. H/hs with actual history and background, [...]

    4. Meagan McKinney has written one of my all time favorite romance novels. I re-read that book often and always, always finish the book with a heart full of emotions. I love that book to pieces. I will say it again and again. That being said, none of her other books has proved to be of the same caliber. Not those that I have read, at least. When Angels Fall is such a mish-mash of nothingness. A stable boy and lady of the manor, I love a working man with a lady kind of story. I have much more respec [...]

    5. One of the best Historical Romances I've read in a long time.Very well written and engaging, it used tropes without heavily relying on them, and it all tied together really nice in the end.Usually books in this genre are extremely predictable, but this book really surprised me several times. The characters, though flawed, were really likeable. I especially enjoyed Lissa's sister Evie. Ivan played out the "tortured hero" without being an asshole or an obnoxious jerk. Although it does overstay it's [...]

    6. A great Victorian Bodice Ripper with a Tortured Hero and a Magnificent HeroineI guess I should say at the outset that I am a fan of McKinney's historical romance novels. This one, set in 1855 (prologue in 1850), is a wonderful, well-told story of how the wounds from the past keep us from embracing the future we might have. And it kept me up late reading till I finished it, which is always a good sign. Oh, yes, it’s a bodice ripper, too.Five years ago, Elizabeth (“Lissa”) Alcester, daughter [...]

    7. Meagan's novels are hard to find, but they are well worth reading. Her stories always involve a very complex, dark hero and a shattered heroine. They are a little different that the average run of the mill lighthearted romance.

    8. If you haven´t done so already- go and read Lions and Lace by McKinney, it is a great book, and one of my favourite finds of 2015.When Angels Fall though is a complete waste of time.A terrible, terrible excuse for a book.

    9. I spent the summer I was 13 reading this book and "Til Dawn Tames the Night" I still have a copy of this somewhere, I need to go find it and give it a reread. Three cheers for a 'crystal' snood!!!

    10. This is a book that I have read at least half a dozen times. Everytime I read it I find something that I missed before. This is definately a classic romance novel and they just don't make them like they used to. It's a classic and one that I will always read when I'm in the mood for an old time love story.

    11. Set in 1855, first there's Ivan Tramore, bastard son who ends up working in the stables of the Alcesters. When his father ends up with no heir, he pulls strings and makes Ivan his legal son and heir- the eleventh Marquis of Powerscourt. Elizabeth Alester was the eldest daughter of the Alester family and developed interest in the silent, brooding stable hand, Ivan. Hoping he has some feeling for her, she tries to get him to open up, even so far as wandering down to the stables one evening where s [...]

    12. I loved this ! Ivan the H is HOT ! His obsession with the heroine is simultaneously sexy and slightly disturbing. The former poor boy grows up to inherit his father's title and wealth but still cannot get the heroine out of his heart and his mind. The heroine is such a beautiful human being - outwardly and inwardly. She takes care of her blind sister and her baby brother. When her income - which had been supplied on a periodic basis by Ivan over the last couple years - is cut off, she has no oth [...]

    13. This is one book that I will never forgot what the story is about. I find myself practically mooning over it for several days and unable to move on to the next book like I used to be. Trust me, it doesn't happens a lot.Ivan, The Eleventh Marquis of Powerscourt returning to the ancestral house of Powerscourt after three years period after he inherited it. He never dreamt of inheriting it since he is the bastard son of the Tenth Marquis and he never shows any interest in him while he is alive, Iva [...]

    14. When Angels Fall is my favourite romance novel of all time. I know that's saying alot but I simply love it. I've read it about a dozen times over the last 15 years. I love it because Lissa and Ivan have this history, Lissa has always loved him since she was a girl and Ivan's love for her is borderline obsessive once she becomes a young woman and they've thought of each other during the course of time that they have been separated and had their positions reversed. Lissa has gone from daughter of [...]

    15. One of my fave romances. Period. I've read it several times, and I never get tired of it.The heroine - Elizabeth - starts off as a spoiled brat, as revealed in the novel's flashbacks, but her present circumstances/losses toughen her up. She now has to struggle to make ends meet, while taking care of her blind sister and young brother. The hero - Ivan - starts off as a poor, bastard stable boy to becoming rich and entitled with the inheritance of his father's wealth. The tale does have a sort of W [...]

    16. DRAMA reminiscent of a Mexican telenovela but it did hold my attention ; and while hero falls majorly in the "Anti-hero" column with not playing fair to get what he wants --- I didn't hate him and I really liked the heroine's strength of character , not giving in until she felt sure its what she wanted ( overall ) not terrible if maybe a little drawn out

    17. Wow, I could not put this book down. I don't think I've ever read a book where the hero was so cruel to the heroine and yet somehow you wanted them to be together. My chest ached through 70% of this novel. Emotional roller coaster. My only complaint I'd Ivan's hate seems extreme for what happened years earlier. I was expecting something more unforgivable. I will be reading this one again though!

    18. I enjoyed this bc the H was so obsessed with the h. However, I didn't understand why she resisted so much. It was frustrating how stubborn she was and her blowing hot and cold didn't help her case. Nevertheless, the H was super possessive of the h which I loved. She was it for him from the very beginning.

    19. This is the love story of penniless Elizabeth Alcester and rich but revenge-bent Ivan Tramore. I couldn't put this book down. I adored Elizabeth. Ivan, on the other hand, was borderline cruel in words (his actions were much kinder). You'll either love Ivan or hate him, but the book will not bore you!

    20. LOVE THIS BOOK, recommend it to anyone! Definitely worth reading!I'll be sticking my nose into a few of her other books. The story really is so much fun to read!Ladies it is a fun ride and the hero in this book is my type of hero.

    21. it was pretty okay. But still can't beat Lions and Lace, i dislike both Hero and Heroine ego. and the ending lil' bit abrupt.

    22. 4,5 estrellas en realidad. Me ha faltado que la autora desarrollara más el final, pero aparte de eso, me ha encantado. ♥

    23. YesYes I know I like romance novels oh well. This is a terrific book, I really enjoyed reading it. It is very well written and it is a good period piece.

    24. A SOLID 4.5 STARS!MUCH FILLED WITH ANGST, SEXUAL TENSION AND PASSION! I fell in love with this author after reading this story.OUR HERO like most of McKinney's heroes, I am beginning to see a pattern of stubborn male pride and an inflated ego but he protects what he deems HIS like a mother hen with her chicks. Ivan is the bastard son of a lord and a gypsy, his father never having acknowledged him before and you can imagine how bitter he is about it. Ironically, when the old Marquis cocked up his [...]

    25. Ugh. The prologue was intriguing & captured my interest. A bastard turned Lord What's the matter with this girl he's clearly infatuated with?Unfortunately it went downhill from there. The heroine, Lissa, who has fallen poor for years, seems to be still more focused on dresses & trims than basic needs. The hero, Ivan, is bipolar: cruel or unable to control himself around Lissa. I stopped counting the number of times the two would meet, in the most implausible situations, and fight between [...]

    26. In the first few chapters, I thought I had found an author who could help ease my Judith McNaught obsession. Boy, was I wrong! Well-written story, messed up characters who are still messed up at the end, no character developmemt, asshole hero, naive heroine, possessive hero who doesn't earn his keep or doesn't deserve the reader's respect. I just couldn't bear with it! This book could've been really good, what a damn shame.
