    1. When a bully dog says Otis the dog has big ears, he worries about them, until his owner wraps an ear around her hand and tells him how she loves his long, warm ears. This gives him strength to ignore the next taunt from the bully.

    2. Recommended to me and this would make a great addition to any classroom for discussions around acceptance and how our words impact others.

    3. “Dog Eared” written by Amanda Harvey is a cute book that takes you through a rough day in the life of a dog named Otis! Otis and his owner were walking home one afternoon when they encountered a not so nice dog. This mean dog pushed Otis out of his way and called him ‘big ears’. As Otis continued his walk home he couldn’t help but dwell on the comment the other dog had made towards him about having big ears. Otis became very insecure believing that his ears were quite large. He lost hi [...]

    4. Dog eared is a book about a pup who gets told he has large ears. The dog became self conscious of his big ears and its all he could think about. He tried and tried to do something about them to make them not seem as big but nothing worked. It wasn't until his owner complimented his ears that he realized he liked them just as they are. When another dog told him he had a fat fat the dog said "I don't think so" with confidence. This story sends a message about bullying. It hurts other peoples feeli [...]

    5. Otis is a dog with unusually large ears. Otis is all fine and dandy until one day in the park, another dog makes fun of him. Otis is really upset, to the point to where he doesn't want to be in public. Until his owner makes him feel better with love. So pretty much one nice thing can change someones mind and cheer them up completely. I was picked on as a child and I found a good friend that made me feel better about myself. I recommend kids to read this book and have a little insight on bullying [...]

    6. One day at the park Otis the dog gets called "big ears" by another passing dog. He is mortified, and tries everything to hide his big ears. Good for any puppy/child who is self-consious, or nervous about their appearance. In the end Otis learns that his big floppy ears are one of his owners favorite parts!

    7. I use this book to talk to kids in subtle ways about self-esteem and not always listening to what other kids have to say about them. Some of my kids "get it" more than others. It's a good book for the younger set.

    8. An unexpectedly sweet story about a dog who learns to love his ears (even if they are slightly over-sized). A solid story for preschoolers about loving yourself -- including the parts that may not be perfect.

    9. Bookaday #78. Adorable Otis is teased by another dog in the park but comes to realize he is okay just the way he is. Love his sweet doggy facial expressions! Too bad it is out of print.

    10. Great to pair with "Do Your Ears Hang Low". Love the message that who cares what others say about how we look.

    11. Otis deals with a bully dog at the park. Another amazing picture book in which the illustrations speak more than the words themselves!
