    1. Quick Pivot by Brenda Buchanan is a 2015 Carina Press publication.Decades old secrets come to light, revealing a connection to the mob, a cover-up, a rushed investigation, and a few unknown facts about Paulie. Joe’s methodical investigative skills, gives the story a procedural style feel to it. The plotting is evenly paced, with a few twists here and there, which kept me interested. But, the characterizations are what really won me over. I liked Joe and Paulie, although I would like to see Joe [...]

    2. Reporter Joe Gale goes to an old textile mill to cover an ordinary story of its redevelopment and ends up witnessing the discovery of a skeleton when the builders knock down one of the mill’s brick walls. After a bit of digging himself, Joe learns that in 1968 a great deal of money was embezzled from the mill at the same time as one of the mill’s finance employees, George Desmond, went missing. Now, however, it’s clear that Desmond was not the embezzler and someone has got away with murder. [...]

    3. Two stories come together into one great readBrenda Buchanan cleverly intertwined two stories into one outstanding read.Along the way she put in many different paths to keep the reader's mind working to figure out what had happened.

    4. (I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)1968A cunning thief skimmed a half a million dollars from the textile mill that was the beating heart of Riverside, Maine. Sharp-eyed accountant George Desmond discovered the discrepancy, but was killed before he could report it. After stashing the body, the thief-turned-killer manipulated evidence to make it appear Desmond skipped town with the stolen money, ruining his good name forever.Present DayVeteran jo [...]

    5. I thoroughly enjoyed this intricately plotted novel of an old style investigative reporter. In this first book of the contemporary series, when newspaper reporter Joe Gates witnesses the discovery of forty plus year old skeletal remains he feels compelled by instinct and training to follow the story until the murder is uncovered, but he never expect to be pulled as far into the investigation as he is. In his review of the newpaper's archives he discovers that his late mentor investigate the disa [...]

    6. This is the author's first crime fiction book. Brenda mailed me an ARC of this book. I found this Maine newspaper reporter novel to be very engrossing. I look forward to the second book COVER STORY when it is published.

    7. Buchanan's debut is a top notch thriller! With simultaneous stories happening decades apart, this one will have you guessing until the very end.

    8. I enjoyed it- introduces the characters and settings that you'll get to know better as the series continues.
