    1. This was one of the better shorts I read from this anthology. It's about hope, rebirth, love, and finding that one thing you believe in. I liked the imagery of the Phoenix. And even though the romance smacks of insta-lust, this was an entertaining read. Not bad at all.

    2. Finding a story about Yule and some of the Wiccan rituals among this year’s Advent Calendar stories at Dreamspinner was a wonderful surprise for me. Rowan’s skepticism about the magic his mother and sister are so connected to made him encountering some of it even more special. Not to mention that there is also something fascinating about a phoenix and its regenerative powers. Oh, end let’s not forget the taxi driver – he definitely added some fun to the events as well. The combination of [...]

    3. This is a jewel of a winter holiday story, a quick read but one that lingers in the imagination long after the last line. Rowan, a young man from a family of witches, is the least magical of them, but he is tapped by the earth forces of Yule to bring on the rebirth of the year. Aided by a sexy taxi driver, Martin, he must bring a beautiful but fading phoenix to Stonehenge before it's too late.I loved this story, but mostly because I love the author's ability to blend fantasy and myth with realit [...]

    4. Stuck in the UK during Yule, Rowan Stormbringer doesn’t expect much this holiday season. His family is all back at home, and while Rowan would not be adverse to a little male company he knows that it isn’t likely to happen. Then a phoenix crash lands into his life and Rowan, along with the help of a snarky taxi-driver, finds himself in a race against the setting sun to get the phoenix to his destination before the sun goes down on Yule’s Eve.This was a nice Christmas story. Well, Yule stor [...]

    5. Loved it!Full Reviewkimichanexperience/last-suOMG I loved this story!Rowan is the black sheep in his Wiccan family – not quite a believer in all things witchy – but he works for the family biz and is currently in London on a job. He goes to catch a cab when suddenly he sees something fly by and knows he has to find and help it.Turns out, the flying thing is a Phoenix needing a ride to Stonehenge (of course!). Rowan’s cab driver (Martin) wants the cash up front if he’s going to deliver th [...]

    6. Reviewed at The Blogger Girls. When Rowan finds a phoenix on the eve of Yule, he knows his only option is to get it to Stonehenge before it’s too late. Thankfully, cabbie Martin is willing to take Rowan there. The few hours spent together brings the two closer and before they know it, they’re racing against time to get the injured phoenix to Stonehenge before it’s too late.I’m not really sure how I feel about this one because, on one hand, I liked that it dealt with Yule and needing to ge [...]

    7. Review can be read at It's About The BookRowan Stormbringer really didn’t expect to find a phoenix. He didn’t expect it to telepathically communicate with him, either. So Rowan has to get a cab to Stonehenge to get the phoenix there by sunset so he can regenerate for Yule. It’s up to cab driver Martin to get Rowan to Stonehenge. Whereas they don’t hit it off immediately with instant lust, the guys are able to chat amiably until Martin sees Rowan is transporting some kind of animal in the [...]

    8. I wasn't honestly expecting much from this one given the blurb, but I'm fascinated by phoenixes and thought I'd give it a shot. It was actually significantly better than I'd anticipated. For such a short story, I felt like I got to know the characters well, and the mysteriousness of Stonehenge at sunset on the Winter Solstice was delightfully well done.Favorite Quote:"Here. My driver's license is in the front pocket. You can see I'm not a criminal."The cabbie arched a brow. "How's that supposed [...]

    9. This is a nice quick and sweet read. I'm not sure I understand the title since it takes place at the winter Solstice, but nonetheless, it was interesting and humorous and completely unexpected. Heathrow at Christmas - cannot imagine! Rowan Stormbringer - fabulous name! His sister - Rain! Martin his cab driver is definitely game for a little adventure and then it's a little more adventure than he bargains for. This is the first story I've read by this author, but just discovered I have another of [...]

    10. Reviewed by Brandilyn for Prism Book Alliance. Last of Summer by Genna Donaghy is a sweet urban fantasy set around Yule. Yes, it is insta-lust, but it is entertaining as well. Rowan is a likable character, especially once he takes the Phoenix under his care. Martin is the comedy relief. While that doesn't always endear a character to me, I like him as he is a good match for Rowan. I enjoyed the fact that he struggled with his attraction to Rowan and his skepticism about the Phoenix.

    11. I really enjoyed this one. I liked the fantasy as it melded with reality and the fact that there wasn't insta-love and a HEA. It was a short, quick and sweet tale of hope and renewal with a dash of lust thrown in for good measure.

    12. This one was a bit different but it's fun to read a variety of things over the holiday season. My goal was to read each book the day it came out and I've been able to keep it going.
