    1. I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review.**Also published on my YA Book Blog.I had to start and stop and start this book about half a dozen times. I kept trying to tell myself "It's nust a slow starter" or "I'm just not ready to start something new" but now I know the truth. This book is terrible. I wish it were otherwise, but it's just not.I'll start with the plot. Convoluted. Start with contemporary YA rom, then add a little thriller, then BAM swich to paranormal. Which, [...]

    2. Obscured by CM Boers, was in interesting and entertaining read. It was so enjoyable I had trouble putting it down to get back to reality. Here’s why….There are very likeable characters involved in Abby and Eli, and a nemesis in Peter that has you liking him at first and then loathing him by the end.Abby is a 16-year-old girl who is dealing with her parents divorce, moving away and a fresh new start courtesy of her mother. She comes across as a mature girl and seems wiser for her family’s e [...]

    3. *I got this book from the publisher for an exchange of a honest review*This book went from a 5-star read to a 2-star read. The thing that bother me the most was the girl, Abby, she was annoying and always giggles. What kept me reading? Well, the fact that it’s a quick read is appealing, but honestly I only read the first half of book then gave up. I was pushing myself to read more but I just couldn't. I started to skim because it got too much. (I really skipped a lot)There’s a lot of “noth [...]

    4. Adorable read. Abby thinks she just normal, but that's not to be. The family moves to Arizona and the fun begins. Suspense and coming of age all together. Loved it.

    5. Don't miss the author interview and an a excerpt from book 2 "Divulge" onmy blogJuly 17th! Obscure has an interesting supernatural premise and is a well-written, sweet YA read, spiced with suspenseful elements like unexplained night terrors, a possible killer and a overprotective, stalking class mate. page-turner check marks go to ✓Writing and ✓Theme. 3.6 stars Obscure is told in first-person narrative, which is not my favorite POV because it leads to too much introspection, interior monolog [...]

    6. I loved the story, all the twists and turns and the action definitely the action, it had me wanting to read more and more so much so that I didn't stop reading the book from the moment I picked it up to the moment I finished it. It was an enthralling story, a love story no less but with action and paranormal thrown in for good measure. I have to admit thought, this story was a little stilted for me, I found it was like the author was trying to fit so much into the book that they hadn't thought h [...]

    7. The story starts with Abby struggling with moving to a new state after her parents split up. New school, new friends and not getting to see her dad much due to distance, on top of it her mom seems to be completely absent as she too is adjusting to the new move, new job and new to dating again after the divorce. So the story follows how Abby handles things with the move and adjusting to the avid attentions of not just one, but 2 boys. Little does she know how complicated it's really going to get. [...]

    8. A Great Paranormal ReadI liked this book, it was an interesting paranormal premise. Once I got into the story I didn't want to put it down. Abby is a 16 year old girl dealing with the divorce of her parents, and being uprooted and getting a brand new start thanks to her mother. Despite her fears about her new life she makes three friends right away at school. One of which I really liked at the beginning but ended up hating, and another who I also liked and just grew to like him more throughout t [...]

    9. Obscured is a very interesting book and most of the time, entertaining. It was such a light read for me. It is very easy to read but the beginning is a little bit difficult to get into. I wish the story explored more on other characters rather than just the main characters(I really like Abby's parents and Bailey!). The main character can be quite indecisive but are actually likeable and feel real to me. While the pace sometimes can be a tad bit unsteady and sometimes focused too much on deatils, [...]

    10. A fast-paced, fun YA paranormal adventure. If you're looking for a fun, quick read, this is your story. The characters are real, the action's suspenseful, and the paranormal twist in the middle unexpected.

    11. Sixteen year old Abby has moved into a new state with her mom for a fresh start. Her parents have divorced. She is not all that happy to be so far away from her dad and friends. On her first day of school she sees a boy that is so handsome that she has hope he is interested in her when he smiles at her. His name is Pete. She has also caught the eye of Eli who warns her to stay away from Pete. Why? Abby makes friends with Bailey. They double date with Pete and Eli. Abby discovers that Pete is phy [...]

    12. This book started out really slow with the main character, Abby, talking about mundane stuff like high school, boyfriends, food, work, etc. It was not only after midway through the book, did some interesting events occur. We find out that Eli, Abbys best friend, is her Protector and has been assigned to protect her as part of his assignment. However, their relationship develops into a romantic one. Eli also is connected to Abby in that he can sense Abby's feelings and even know her whereabouts. [...]

    13. *I was sent this book, non affliated review* This was an interesting one for me. There were times where I thought this was a terrible book; it seemed very simple in writing style/vocabulary and the plot seemed very predictable. Then there were other times where it had a sophisticated and interesting vocabulary/writing style and was completely surprising. I loved the characters especially Eli and I loved the idea of a protector its like guardian angel meets vampire meets mind reader. Pete was the [...]

    14. This is a difficult one as it's not badly written, but in its current state it is rather bland. There's a lot of "they went there", "they did this", "they ate this" type commentary and it all gets a little mundane to be honest. I spent the first half of the book just waiting for something, anything, to happen. Abby, the main character, is so fickle it's untrue, she changes her mind constantly for no particular reason. Also, it starts off as a YA romance book, but then suddenly (about 65% of the [...]

    15. I received a copy of this story from Net Galley. Yay books!Spoilers possible aheadI started off not liking this story, and it's not because of the story line or anything, but with the way Eli is at first, telling that she doesn't need to hang around Pete. Um, dude, she don't know you, no matter how long you've been dreaming of her. It's just crazy. After that initial disappointment, the story wasn't so bad. There are still some "huh?" moments that are hopefully answered in later stories.

    16. This was a good quick read, I liked the characters, I liked the story, and paranormal is my favorite genre, so I would give it 5 stars for sure.

    17. This book overall I liked. I enjoyed the plot and the concept. I enjoyed some of the characters. I liked how this was character driven and that there was emotion and conviction in the characters. There were twists and turns and danger that keeps you on the edge of your seat as Abby adjusts to her life in Arizona. Here is a girl whose mom moves her away from all she has ever known and now she is in danger. Danger she didn’t realize she was in. She has Eli wanting to be her friend and more but wh [...]

    18. Still reeling from her parents’ recent divorce, sixteen year old Abby Martin is plagued by nightmares of the worst kind. Part of her is resentful that her mother chose to move them from Los Angeles to Arizona, far away from Abby’s father, but it is not long before she is grateful, having made some amazing new friends at Kinsley High School. When Pete Denali catches her eye, she is flattered by the sudden attention and flirtatious advances of the footballer which come her way, but is puzzled [...]

    19. In ‘Obscured’ we meet Abby Martin. Abby is sixteen years old and has just moved with her mom to Arizona. Not only is she trying to get used to her new hometown, and her parents’ divorce, but she is also starting High School. Abby isn’t really looking forward to her new school and meeting new people, but on her first day in High School, Abby soon learns that there are a lot of nice people who want to be her friend. One of the first people Abby meets is Eli, a mysterious guy who becomes he [...]

    20. Abby considers her life in California normal and boring. She is not altogether excited at having to move to Arizona when her parents split up. Despite her misgivings, she manages to make three friends on the very first day of school. Pete is a cute boy who she hopes will be more, but Eli tries to warn her about Pete’s terrible temper. And the fact that Eli believes Pete has actually killed someone is not encouraging at all. Then there is Bailey, a bubbly girl who Abby gets along just fine with [...]

    21. Hard to get into until 2nd halfI'm a huge reader. Love YA novels. This one was okay, but simply not one of my favorites. I felt like the wrong details were mentioned and others ignored. Each time she went to the bathroom, we were told that she washed her hands. However, we never found out why her mom continued to seem distant. I also don't know any 16 year olds just beginning high school. I did get into the second one half of the book. I felt our main female character lacked depth. I think this [...]

    22. Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. From the beginning, the readers know this book is going to be full of mysteries. Even so, we see the characters in high school going about what normal high-schoolers do and this balances the novel from going too dark. Things don't go on too fast and you'd have to read through to find out and solve the mystery. With the other characters' personalities and histories remaining hidden, we become like the main character [...]

    23. Very interesting read. Once you start reading it will hold your attention until the end. Original story line and suspenseful ending. Some of the characters were not explained as much as I would have liked, but maybe that is coming in the next book :) Overall, very good product from a first time author.

    24. I don't think I have read any books about the Protectors so this was a nice change of pace. I like how it wasn't insta-love between the MCs. The friendship built into more. I didn't care much for Pete but that's what made the story so interesting. I can't wait to read book 2 so I can find out what happens to Pete.

    25. I really enjoyed this book and felt the direction it went was unexpected. The idea behind the Protectors is new and different from other books I've read. I'm interested to see what happens as the concept continues to develop in the next book!

    26. I was very impressed with C. M. Boers book. I enjoyed reading it. If you enjoy the unknown you will enjoy this book. It's ending was unexpected. I can't wait to read her next book!

    27. I was excited for this book because the premise sounds so good. However, it didn’t meet my expectations. The characters were very flat. Their relationships progressed very quickly. By Abby’s second day at school, she was already in the middle of a love triangle. Also, both of the guys expected Abby to trust them immediately. And for some reason she did. It really didn’t make sense. There were some consistency issues in the story. For instance, when Abby has a sleepover with her friend Bail [...]
