    1. Harvey Gillman's books are always thought-provoking and readable. In 'Consider the Blackbird' he looks at language used to make sense of and respond to the world around us. Although it is a Quaker book it will speak to a much wider audience, of different faiths and none. His response to the challenges of the Bible help to counter fundamentalist interpretation: 'stories of the past depend on the worldview of the past'.
