    1. Scott Mariani offers up another wonderful early story about his strong-willed protagonist, Ben Hope, in this short piece. After the traumatic kidnapping of her son by a crazed ex-husband, Jessica Hunter looks to Ben Hope for some answers. While the police are working to find Carl, they have been unable to find any solid leads, forcing Hope to take measures into his own hands. While poking around, Hope is able to find some definite clues that point to the mindset of Drew Hunter, though nothing se [...]

    2. Ben's dark humour is everything, I love it. Maaybe it reminds me of mine. I really have a lot of fun reading these books, I totally enjoy them. Scott Mariani's books are full of action and mystery, it's like a film but ten times better. Fortunately, there are no films based on Ben Hope series. I do think films do us a lot of harm by taking our opportunity to imagine things ourselves. Yeah, so people don't have a very good imagination but others have and enjoy books much more. However, when there [...]

    3. Usual Ben Hope escapist thriller. A MISSING BOY It's 2004. Twelve-year-old Carl Hunter has been snatched at gunpoint from his home on Jersey. He and his kidnapper have vanished without a trace. A DISTRAUGHT MOTHER After weeks, the cops have found nothing. Jessica Hunter realises that if she ever wants to see her boy again, she'll need someone with some very special skills to find him. Enter Ben Hope, recently retired from the SAS and now working freelance to rescue kidnapped children. A DEADLY S [...]

    4. Page Turner I gave this book a 5 star because it keeps you guessing as you turn the pages waiting for the next twist and turn and keeps you wondering can things like this really happen and about things that the human brain is capable of and the lengths people will go to to abuse it.

    5. Different to most of the other Ben Hope books this is nevertheless engaging.I must have missed it before. But I enjoyed it. These thrillers took me by surprise as I never thought that they would be much cup of tea. How wrong I was! I find myself addicted to them.

    6. Not badHave read better from this author, but this was only a novella, and I ways think they try to cram too much information in them. Will not let that put me off of reading another from this author.

    7. Too shortA good read as ever from Scott but the book was too short to really get the detail and storyline working correctly.

    8. Good read. Strange concept but absorbing. I like the Hope series. Look forward to reading more in the futureI have already done it above. The book is a good travel novel as it is easy to pick up the tnhreads

    9. This one's a bit different to Passenger 13, and I can sort of now see where the comparison to Dan Brown is coming from. Although saying that, my (Thankfully small) experience with Dan Brown gave me a headache, as I mentally corrected grammar, and got frustrated over painful narrative and convenient cliches. This story has a bit of that, with one or two contrived plot devices to ferry the story along as well, but I'd say, for this specific story, it was ten times better than any drivel Brown has [...]

    10. NO SPOILERSProbably just marginally short of the usual standard but worth a read. If you have found this do read the full books this probably isn't the best place to start nor the best example of Ben Hope who is Jack Reacher with a brain and a proper story and you never have to think of Tom Cruise so a bonus!

    11. I really enjoyed the first Ben Hope story (The Alchemist's Secret) so had high expectations. This story was too short as a novella and felt a bit like it was pushed out to meet a deadline. The characters and plot would have benefited from further development. I am optimistic book 3 will be better. We'll see.

    12. Also this short Story written by Scott Mariani accomplish its goal to fascinate the user at short notice. A normal case of a parental child Kidnapping turns much more intresting after a short while.A slight shift to paranormal matters is successful and interesting if the reader gets himself involved with this kind of storyline.

    13. 3.5 starsI only gave this 3.5 stars due to the length of the story. It was a very good book nevertheless and contained all the elements that I've come to expect from a Scott Mariani book. I recommend all fans of tgis author read this.

    14. Bring him backA short but truly exciting book. A rare glimpse into psychic espionage or what is called "viewing". I really enjoyed this bookfull of mystery and fast paced action!

    15. What a great fast paced thought provoking short story this is. Takes us back to the early days of Ben's hostage rescue career with some great twists and turns, can't wait for the next full length story.

    16. As usual a great story. I do believe Ben Hope should be made into films, much better than James Bond, and I love Bond. This goes back to the beginning of Ben's career where he has to find and bring ack a young child.

    17. Very good read, the story takes you back to one of Ben's first hostage rescue jobs after leaving the SAS. Quick, fast moving read that has Ben using his skills to get the job done.

    18. Pretty good, set back at the beginning, when Hope is fresh out of SAS. No mention of theological studies, but perhaps wasn't needed. Not bad, just not as good (or long) as others.

    19. Good bookGreat story and action, just wish it was longer! Love Ben Hope stories . Thus book would be a good short read for anyone wanting to meet Ben Hope for the first time.

    20. Want to get my teeth into a good long Ben Hope story, please Scott give me something to look forward to.
