    1. I sincerely believe there is a soul mate for everybody. The external package doesn't matter when it comes to the heart.- J.M. MaddenFor Shannon Murphy, office manager of LNF Investigative Services in Denver, it's been a difficult six months watching and wanting John Palmer. John, one of three bosses who formed the business made up of twenty returned servicemen, is gruff, grumpy and definitely not interested in her. Or so she thinks. For John's part, he's eyed off his petite employee, knowing tha [...]

    2. A sequel to The Embattled RoadThis was such an amazing bookI loved it! And I can't wait for the new ones to come out!!!! I must read Chad and Duncan ASAP!!!!!!The storyThis is set six years after the prequel, The Embattled Road. The Lost ‘N’ Found Investigative Service is doing well, having lots of cases and recruiting more war veterans.John, Chad and Duncan have moved on with their lives, and are as close as brothers :)The plot here is actually about Shannon, who works as their office manage [...]

    3. 4 1/2 Heartfelt Stars!! J.M. Madden has hit on something good. I love this series! The author kept the story REAL!! She didn’t depict our wounded warriors to suddenly have abilities outside the bounds of what they would be truly capable of. She did not make a mockery of their injuries. I respect and appreciate the hell out of her for doing that. BRAVO J.M. Madden!! After 6 years the men we met in The Embattled Road, Duncan, Chad and John, still struggle each and every day, but their determinat [...]

    4. 4 I only wanted you! Stars *Spoilers*If you have not read The Embattled Road the prequel to this book, you should check it out. It will help you get to know the men in this series better and give you a look into their past. Embattled Hearts is the first book in the Lost and Found series. John Palmer is a former Gunnery Sergeant . He was badly injured in Iraq ending his Military career and leaving him in a wheelchair. John has no family and the only friends he has is the two Military brothers tha [...]

    5. 2.5 - 3 StarsSo before I say anything I want to include an excerpt from the "NOTE FROM JM" tidbit that precedes this book:"As we go about our daily grind, it's easy to forget that there are men and women dying every day as they fight to ensure our freedom. When they come home, no matter what shape they are in, they deserve our utmost respect and appreciation for doing the job they volunteered for.Every solider that has served overseas will carry some type of scar, either internally or externally [...]

    6. This awesome book is part of an amazing series, and it's on sale for just $0.99 - Kindle: amazon/gp/product/B00B Embattled Hearts is the first full length story in J.M. Madden's Lost and Found series, and just as the prequel was, a truly wonderful book! This is John's story and I'm glad to have gotten it first because out of the three men - he, Chad, and Duncan - John was the one I was most worried about. So bitter, so uncertain he'd lost so much of himself to his injuries and I desperately want [...]

    7. Loved this one. 4.5 stars. Got the prequel The Embattled Road and it really drew me to the characters and the storyline. No sugar coating here. John Palmer was injured in Iraq and is now in a wheelchair - many other authors might have "rectified" this and had him standing upright to meet the love of his life. Not this author - Reality sucks and John is, of course, bitter and angry. Shannon, who works in the same office as him is great. Stands up to him, doesn't feel sorry for him and falls for h [...]

    8. Have you ever began reading a book, and you just knew right away that this is going to be one of those books. That book that you'll compare all the others in a similar genre too, but they will still never hold a candle to them? Well this was that book for me. I loved it!!!This was a hidden little gem. I have been drowning recently in an overload of possessive billionaires and TSTL heroines, angst-filled and over-dramatic plot lines, and completely unrealistic stories. I needed a break! Thankfull [...]

    9. 4.5 stars! After suffering horrific injuries during combat in Iraq and losing the use of his legs John Palmer wonders if he will ever be able to find normality in life. Setting up LNF Investigative Services with his two best friends Duncan and Chad he is just going through the motions of day to day, until the sweet Shannon Murphy rattles his cage and makes him take notice.Shannon Murphy has her eyes set on the broody and quiet warrior. And when she finds herself in a dangerous situation, John is [...]

    10. 5++ SEMPER FI STARSThis book is definitely in the running to be my favorite book of 2014just sayingIt's safe to say that I am absolutely OBSESSED with this book. It literally has EVERYTHING I love about military romance novels AND MORE.It has:-a wounded war veteran who doesn't feel that he deserves the love of a woman. -a heroine who looks past the veterans disability and see's the amazing man that he is. -ACTION-a stalker-AND A GREAT SEX SCENE.But this book is so much more than that. The charac [...]

    11. I am so disappointed. I really thought this book would be a win for me, I really liked the prequel novella but Embattled Hearts was a surprise, and not a very good one.It started out pretty well, I was really enjoying it, happy to see more of John, Chad and Duncan from The Embattled Road but then, it went to shit. This is John's story, John used to be a Marine and a good one. But, long story short, he got crushed by a door in Iraq and it left him paralyzed from the waist down. Now he runs the Los [...]

    12. Content: Two erotic sex scenes, violence, F-bombs, some typosI really enjoyed Madden's prequel novella, The Embattled Road, and eagerly awaited this book, Embattled Hearts, so I'm delighted to report that it did not disappoint! Except for one gripe, I enjoyed this suspenseful and heartwarming romance, set around Denver, Colorado one snowy November, about 5 years after the prequel. Shannon, you sweetheart, what's cookin' in the crockpot today -- besides a simmering suspense, and John's sexual ten [...]

    13. 3.5 - The man was sex on wheels Literally. Stars. After devouring The Embattled Road, I dove right into Embattled Hearts. This is John Palmer’s story, so it was a no-brainer decision to be honest, as I fell for this broken man 100% in the prequel novella. We join the guys from Lost N Found Investigative Services, five years on from their time spent together recovering in hospital at the end of their military careers, and it was great too catch up with those characters as well as be introduced to [...]

    14. What a fantastic series I've come upon! And man am I kicking myself in the ass for not having found it sooner! The prequel blew me away and I couldn't wait to dive in and go on the emotional journey of the imperfect men of Lost and Found Investigations. I'm so glad that surly John Palmer came first. I was most intrigued by himd he certainly didn't disappoint. Watching him evolve and embrace the easy affection Shannon showed was fantastic. There was a sensitive emotional balance constantly presen [...]

    15. Someone is stalking Shannon. When her boss, former Marine and now a partner in a security firm finds out, he moves in, determined to protect her. But with the prime suspect locked away in a maximum security prison, they can't figure out how he is getting to her.Embattled Hearts is completely out of proportion. It's romantic suspense but for the first 60% or so, there isn't all that much romance or suspense. Then without all that much build up, everything hits you at once and just as quickly it's [...]

    16. 10/23/2016 -- Read Again -- 4.5 Stars I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time I read this one. =============02/24/2013 --Overall Rating = 4.5 StarsBook Cover / Book Blurb = 5 / 5 = 5 StarsWriter’s Voice = 4 StarsCharacter Development = 5 StarsStory Appreciation = 5 StarsWorth the Chili = 5 Stars [$3.99 and B&N]I can't say strongly enough how heartwarming this story was for me. It was good from the first page to the last. I absolutely loved that the Hero in this book was a real hero. [...]

    17. Re read because I just read a crappy book and needed a pick me up. Absolutely LOVE this book!!!! I also love this author and this series. I love military Heros, but service disabled vets are even more awesome!John had issues. Baggage. But he was all in to help Shannon and he did not deviate. Even when he told her she should find someone better you could tell he did not mean it. I never worried and more importantly, neither did Shannon. The dual POV really helped! I really liked that the author m [...]

    18. 3.5 starsI've read the prequel novella Embattled Road and love the premise of this series that center around the Lost 'N' Found Investigation Service set up by Duncan, whom was discharged from the Marine after his injury in Iraq. His partners, Chad and John, along with the employees they recruited were mostly discharged who had suffered certain injury rendered them unable to service in the military any longer. In this Book 1, we have John Palmer, a paraplegic who is one of Duncan's business partn [...]

    19. 3 1/2 stars (rounded down to 3 stars, because the bad guys were easy to figure out and the narrative was too detailed at times - I mean, I don't need to know every single thing the characters did every single time, do I?)

    20. Embattled HeartsJ. M. MaddenEMBATTLED HEARTS is the second book in the Lost and Found series. This is the story of a Iraq war veteran John, and the company he runs with his two Marine brothers called LNF Investigative Services. They are all struggling and try to help each other as best they can. I loved the story about these three Marines and I am totally going to continue with this series. You will find yourself cheering for these three brave heroes, praying they can move forward. John finds hi [...]

    21. Loved the story so the beginning of this series is looking good. High five to the author for her ability to describe the feelings, emotions, insecurities, and other problems returning vets have adjusting to life back home after a life changing injury. Fascinating, interesting and sometimes sad but overall a feeling of understanding that I didn’t have before reading this series. The explanations the characters give of the do’s and don’ts of how they want to be treated by the general public [...]

    22. OhJohnI loved his character so much and I loved Shannon equally as much. They were perfect for each other. Such a great couple and so much fun to read. This book starts out about 5 years after the end of Embattled Road and I was so glad that Duncan, Chad and John were making a go of their private detective agency and employing other wounded soldiers. Each of these 3 heroes quickly won me over in Embattled Road and I was so looking forward to reading more about them. I loved that John found his s [...]

    23. What a sweet, sweet herione! I loved Shannon and her no-nonsense attitude! The way she conquered John's insecurities was just brilliant! Finally a heroine who does what she's told to do without stupid questions. I appreciated this very much!John is a truly troubled man. Not only physically, because of his being paraplegic, but also mentally, where his PTSD is mixed with guilt. I love reading how Shannon managed to make him a real man again and I rejoiced when finally they got together. It was at [...]

    24. First let me say that the Note from J.M. at the beginning of this book was really touching. My favorite lines from it are: "I sincerely believe there is a soulmate for everybody. The external package doesn't matter when it comes to the heart." Truer words have never been spoken. Now on to the story.I don't usually read military romances, but after I received encouragement to read this from Jill I jumped right into it. This book contained the perfect blend of romance with some action, and a crazy [...]

    25. 4 out of 5 StarsFirst of all, as I said in my review of The Embattled Road. I love that the author is doing this"A portion of the proceeds of this book will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. If you would like to make a personal donation, you can find information at woundedwarriorproject"Enough other reviews have been written by so many really great people that I'll keep this short and succinct. Things I loved- The hero is written as someone who is real. He's in a wheel chair, he doesn't [...]

    26. This isn't the type of book that I would normally read but I am glad that I did. The author wrote that she wasn't sure that writing this series was a good idea and I must admit that it takes balls and it worked. My heart goes out to the guys and gals that fight for their country be it in America or anywhere else. There are those that I have internal scars but others that are scarred externally the first book in the series in the book is about John Palmer he is part of the Lost N Found Investigat [...]

    27. This was great even though the bad guy was easy to figure out. I loved the way that the author didn't sugarcoat the fact that the hero was in a wheelchair, and would most likely remain paralyzed. There was no miracle cure for him, period. But he was still a vibrant, HOT, hero, who was a perfect match for the heroine, Shannon. I loved her too. She was warm, compassionate, but no wimp by any means. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of this series.
