    1. This book is ,undoubtedly, well written. The author Mathew Dexter clearly has potential. He strings words together effortlessly, painting vivid images in the reader's mind. His book Ritalin Orgy, however, is questionable at best. It's mostly about drugs. Now, don't get me wrong, I go to a boarding school so I definitely understand that there is some accuracy in this story. The use of drugs and other illicit substances does run rampant, but it is definitely not so blatantly overlooked by faculty. [...]

    2. The story is insightful and interesting to read. The author’s writing style is thought provoking and easy to read and take in. This is a story of immense darkness and creation inspiring for a realistic view on the dark side of thought.Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

    3. I received a copy of orgy from Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review. It's funny how I have to say that with some of these reviews. I have no idea why, and who knows, maybe some people actually lie when they read a review copy. All I know is that I have to say that somewhere in this review. Anyway this is not your common variety feel good novel of the year. It isn't much on taking the route of most popular fiction and being predictable either. Does anyone only read safe novels anymore? L [...]

    4. Matthew Dexter’s The Ritalin Orgy gives the reader a look inside prep school life through the eyes of a young teacher named Nick Neary. The novel spans a year at Kush, the prestigious Connecticut school where Nick teaches English. Initially, Nick observes the students from the outside and gets to know the culture of Kush, not only of its students, but of its staff, administrators, and other teachers. As the year progresses, Nick is drawn more and more into the world of the students, looking th [...]

    5. As a student of "Kush" School It is quite enjoyable to read this book and read of the students from the 90s. Many of the traditions and faculty members are still here. However the drug problem is not as prevalent as the book likes to paint it. Still a good and relatable book.

    6. The prose is purple, and the author – one hopes – the personification of poetic licence. It’s a story on speed: luxuriating in language as it exaggerates (please let it be a gross exaggeration) its depiction of life in a private school for the supposedly immensely privileged, viewed through the eyes of a young teacher sensitive to the sufferings and excesses brought about by a degenerate student lifestyle lived while acquiring an impressively academic education (that side of the school’s [...]

    7. The “Ritalin Orgy” is one of those books that you’ll remember ten years after reading it. The story documents the life of teachers and students living at an affluent boarding school. Normally one thinks of upstanding young men and women working hard to obtain an excellent education, inside of a lovely antique boarding school with its old stone buildings and beautiful greenery. But in “The Ritalin Orgy” this is not the case and actually is one hundred and eighty degrees the opposite. Th [...]

    8. Matthew Dexter's "The Ritalin Orgy" is something I never thought I'd like, and for several reasons.First off, it takes place within a boarding school; a setting I detest. Along with all other kind of schools.Second, it is about the excesses of students (and even teachers) who live and work there. That is not something I thought I'd ever be interested in.Third, the language is incredibly flowery, as if narrated by a modern Edgar Allan Poe.Now that that's out of the way, allow me to say that after [...]

    9. As a Language Arts teacher, I love the imagery and figurative language that bleeds through the pages of this novel, but I was also horrified by the pictures painted throughout the scenes in the story. As a reader, this is not the typical type of book that I enjoy reading. I read this book because I was asked to read it and provide an honest review, but I prefer to read paranormal stuff (you know, the stories that don't dive into the harsh realities of the worldlol). I found myself disturbed at t [...]

    10. The Catcher in the Rye for the 90sWritten in lyrical prose, The Ritalin Orgy is like being dropped down an elevator shaft into a mermaid cage. The writing style is crisp and mellifluous, and indeed beautiful. It is easy to read and the author certainly has a mastery with words. Stuffed with serpents and wired crocodiles and dyslexic students and perverted teachers, a loyal yet honest glimpse into the richest minds of delinquents attending the best boarding schools in the United States. Cannot be [...]

    11. Didn't know a lot about boarding school before reading this book, wanted to know what someone close to me was going to get into. The book doesn't flinch away from a lot of tough and crazy stuff. The writing was also really gripping, runs on and on, and puts some wild images right into your head, it's a lot like The Crying of Lot 49. Doesn't leave you time to breathe, just time to be shocked.

    12. This book is not for the faint-hearted. It delves into human nature and its relationship with drugs of all kinds in the setting of a university. It is gritty and provides a very honest if a little poetic view into where most of us overlook or just plain fail to see. Slightly disturbing and incredibly interesting this is a must read by anyone who likes a good debate and unusual literary styles.
