    1. Well I am just going to start by saying that this book surprised me in a really good way. When I started reading it, I had no idea that the plot would unravel the way it did! Now I can officially say that I endorse my own opinion that sometimes "a good writer knows how to describe a 1000 things without writing a 1000 words."Shara: She is our main character. She is an impoverished seamstress who struggles to survive each day. D'Arbignal: I loveeee this man (I know he is a fictional male character [...]

    2. This is excellent sword-and-sorcery in a Lieberesque vein, with more modern sensibilities but the same punch of clever protagonists versus both subtle and dangerous magic and against even more dangerous intrigues very near to them. The heroine, Shara, is admirable especially for how she keeps her wits about her despite being thrust into situations she truly wasn't prepared for, unlike the hero of the piece, D'Arbignal, who is clearly an adventurer of much experience and skill. It's also obvious [...]

    3. I received this wonderful novella as a win from the GoodReads First reads giveaway and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Shara is a main character whom you swiftly begin to relate to wondering how you yourself would handle the situation she is thrust into. At the beginning of the story she simply does not know where the day will take her, having lost her home and not knowing when she will receive another job or her next meal. But that all changes once D'Arbignal and Gianelli walk into her life offe [...]

    4. Two stars is a gift. It's not bad, it just isn't very good. And there's not much of it: the ebook version was 122 pages, of which 10 or 12 pages is not storyStarving seamstress hired by two men--morose hulking giant and care-free cavalier--to guide them to an enchanted village, which she found as a child and has avoided since. What could go wrong? Plenty. And it does.Amateurish storytelling. Occasional odd image: a house set at the "end" a a road through the village.Almost a waste of time.

    5. Brilliant. Utterly, absolutely, hilariously brilliant. The only way this could have been better was if they had left the boor inside the… well, never mind. That's a spoiler. No, it's not perfectly written, and there are some errors in grammar, punctuation, line editing, and so on. This one's too funny and fun for me to care. It's one where I can honestly say, life's too short to read dull books. Enjoy.

    6. I was recently directed to this novella via a casual mention of it on Facebook, of all things. I can honestly say I usually run like the dickens from the deluge of indie books hawked to me via Facebook, as I’ve had some bad experiences with getting suckered into downloading and attempting to read poorly edited drivel that way. I don't ususally find books through Facebook any more, no matter how "free" they are. Sometimes "free" is still too much to pay, unless I know the author's work. However, [...]

    7. Hey guys! I received Shara and the Haunted Village from the author, Jeffrey Getzin, when I won it in a giveaway here on Good Reads. *no spoilers*Characters- The main characters name is Shara. She is a poor middle aged women who has no family and has to fend for herself and find food and shelter every night. It is very hard to find a job so Shara never knows when she is going to get her next meal. Shara stumbles upon two men, D'Arbignal and Gianelli who has Shara to take them to the haunted villa [...]

    8. This novella is full of surprises. It effortlessly transports us to a far away land, to the village where our heroine Shara, resides. The characters are well rounded and believable, and some of the descriptions are so well done, I could hear my tummy rumbling in unison with Shara's! It is just the right length for an all in one read, and that's just what I did! Well done again, Mr Getzin.

    9. This is a good action story the action keeps coming with twist and turns. Who knew a needle and thread could save the world. Shows everything isn't about the sword and might. Loved having the female save the world.

    10. I really liked it but i diddn't enjoy the ending so much because i would have rathered that shara went on and had some adventures with D'Arbignal so that was kind of a bummer to me but it was a very good book otherwise

    11. An imaginative, well written and fast moving tale - once necessary intial setting is presented. I really liked the heroine and hero, and hope to meet them again in future novels.

    12. This was pretty good for a novella. I say it that way because it also has a lot of the characteristics of a novella that annoy me. Namely, no world building, little character development, and a plot that boils down to a single, contextless and largely unexplained adventure. I know, that makes it sound horrible. But in 150 pages (if it's even that long) how much can even the most talented author include? It's a novella. So, keeping in mind the limitations inherent in the literary form, it's prett [...]

    13. Very very well written.I would like to first to say I did not expect the story to turn out the way it did. I was afraid this story would be full of useless cliches of starving girl turned heroic protagonist who falls in love with her traveling companion while going on a heartfelt adventure. The author succeeded in writing about a crazy yet fun adventure using language that helped the audience visualize the scene easily. The ending was bittersweet that left me believing the emotion of the characte [...]
