    1. Every sensual delight is included in this anthology from couple swapping to oral sex. Even the story surrounding a BDSM experience, No Rest For The Wicked by Jaqueline Applebee, was enlightening to me as to why individuals seek out such experiences. "Life is all about sensation. Make me feel present, make me feel alive. Make me feel something I can remember when you've long gone."My favorite stories include Tweetup by Louise Lush, A Big Deck by *surprise surprise* me Rosalía Zizzo, and The Magi [...]

    2. Article first published as Book Review: Best Women's Erotica 2012, Edited by Violet Blue on Blogcritics.Best Women's Erotica edited by Violet Blue is one of the best known erotica series out there. Writers clamour to get between the pages of these books, and rightly so. Best Women's Erotica 2012 is a collection of 18 erotic stories, catering to a variety of different tastes. With stories from big names such as K D Grace, Elizabeth Coldwell, Kay Jaybee, Jacqueline Applebee, Sommer Marsden and Don [...]

    3. Best Women's Erotica 2012 Erotic Anthology - Dec. 6th, 2011 3 starsIn the Best Women's Erotica, there is an array of stories that vary from: implied sex, to spanking, to sex with knives, MFF, bondage and even one that felt a bit incestuous. The shorts in the book really differ. In fact, the very first story called Drought seemed a bit poetic and experimental. Unlike many erotic anthologies the sex does not often seem straightforward and many of the stories are in first person which sometimes did [...]

    4. "Ms Blue has been putting together collections of this type since 1999, and won numerous awards for her work. All the stories touch on physical, emotional and intellectual desire, of the hearts, minds and bodies of their protagonists, and are able to make the reader smile – although not always for their intended reason. But although all these tales have a shared aim, the outcome is often very different. What makes one woman squirm in delight will make another squirm in distaste, and there’s a [...]

    5. I wanted to read this book because, well, because of 50 Shades of Grey. No, I haven't read it - or any of them - but I have heard that it's horribly written. After seeing how popular it's become, however, I thought that perhaps erotica could be compelling to a wider audience and that there has to be something better out there. What better place to start than a collection of stories?A couple of the stories stood out because of their originality, though: The Apprentice, The Nylon Curtain, and A Wi [...]

    6. erotica is either hit or miss for me, and many of its writers are frankly not all that good at it there is more than just the rubbing and licking and thrusting and riding and climaxing, there has to be some build up and some sort of plot at least the BWE series does rather well with the action bits, but not always so well with getting you warmed up and interested in what's coming (no pun intended, honest) for this edition, i was surprised at the lack of variation in most stories (mostly male-fem [...]

    7. I rather enjoyed the first half of the book up until I started reading the story called "Bad" by Kay Jaybee. Including that story everything wasn't really to my tastes until I reached "The Gourmet" by Chaparrita, which was the second to last story. Now that one was delicious. The last story lost me so I ended up skimming through it, like I did with all the stories in the middle.Overall, it's a good read. Of course, not everything in books like these is for everyone.

    8. The quality of these stories varies. Several can be read for the writing alone--others, not so much. Those that are more "literary" are no less "erotica," but they have better use of language and more interesting premises, and they include more believable and creative dialogue. A few of these stories are more "erotica" and less "literary," and those are less enjoyable--too many trite descriptions . . . and "mewing."

    9. This collection includes some fabulous stories, especially Remittance Girl's "Pleasure's Apprentice", but the majority of contributions are not particularly remarkable and certainly don't deserve the superlative of the title. See my detailed review at Erotica Revealed: eroticarevealed.
